3/5/12

As seen in Bead Trends March 2012

This is a beautiful issue you wont want to miss. It features many bead weaving designs this month. I am always so inspired by artists with this talent. A technique in jewelry making I have only dabbled with. Lots of green and aqua marine this month.

My "Be Free" necklace this month begins with a beautiful pastel Simple Truths focal by
Erin of Tesori Trovati with a bird in flight and the words "Be Free".
I chose a perfect aqua blue swirl boro glass bead by Amanda of Sea Shore Glass.
Next, I added fresh water pearls, faceted blue jade, aquamarine ( the March gemstone), labradorite, raku, and lavender and periwinkle Czech glass.  Silver plate rolo chain and sterling silver and brass findings.

Also, special mention this month. I LOVED Raida Disbrow's "Sweet Song" bracelet on p. 24-25. The colors and the focal on this are gorgeous. Raida was my first Bead Soup Partner. Since that experience I use her beads in many of my designs and my husband just designed some new guitar string earrings with her glass and we listed them in his WaterSouls Studios shop.
Next my friend Traci Zeller is new to Bead Trends in the past couple months and this necklace design on 36-37 is really pretty using one of my favorite colors, aqua, with a Sea Shore Glass boro and a unique gold toned flower clasp.
Amanda Austin of Sea Shore Glass features her amazing altered blanks with very cool bookmarks on page 28-29. I purchased one of these for myself from Amanda when I visited her shop in Florence Oregon recently. I recommend you check out her shop for more of these altered metals and her beautiful boro glass which you will find in many of my designs.
These are just a few of my favorites this month. Enjoy your copy with a nice hot cup of what ever you choose and relax with Bead Trends March 2012.
